Line and Shape
I chose to shoot my photos at the Dighton, Massachusetts, baseball fields. I tried to shoot things that would show line and/or shape such as highway signs or stadium lights. I also went deep into the woods behind the fields to get some trees and flowers with shape to them. I shot these photos and these seven I immediately liked. I believe that they show line, shape, or both. I shot them below or straight on. I chose these points of view for better images and a better aspect of what was the main part of the photo. On the last photo I did try to use the rule of thirds with the lights. I think that the photograph with the trees and jet lines is the best one for using lines to lead the viewers eye into the photo. I think that the close-up of the stadium lights show shape best.
Pattern and Texture
I chose to shoot these photos at the new Somerset Berkley Regional High School, in Somerset, Massachusetts. I tried to shoot things that would represent pattern and/or texture such as shoe laces and rocks. I also shot some leaves that had pattern when they were assorted together. I shot these photos and I liked these six the best. I believe that they show pattern, texture, or both. This time, I shot them from above or straight on. I chose these points of view to make it clear what was in the photos. I used light while composing these images by using contrast through things like the shoes and rocks. The last photo does show the rule of thirds method, but not clearly and not intentional. I believe that the pair of shoes on the rocks show both pattern and texture the best.
